New Faces in the WGCIT

July was an exciting month, and the Forbes AgTech Summit brought the WGCIT a lot of positive exposure in the AgTech arena. We had four startups join the WGCIT in July: WaterBit, PalleTech, SWIIM, and Food Origins.

·         WaterBit provides growers with low-cost moisture sensing systems to improve crop quality, increase yields, and optimize resources.

·         PalleTech helps growers, shippers, farmers, and producers demand the most from their supply chains by manufacturing smart pallets. PalleTech pallets have all the technology built right into the pallet, and assist the distributor be FDA-compliant, ensure the quality of perishable good, and, ultimately, maximize their monetary return.

Featured Startup of the Month: iFood Decision Sciences

On July 26, 2016, the Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology hosted its monthly Tech Talk Webinar and introduced iFood Decision Sciences to Western Growers members. iFood Decisions Sciences, Inc. [iFood] uses SaaS (software-as-a-service) applications, and data analytics, to improve the produce industry’s operational performance. iFood protects its clients’ confidential information through a ‘trusted supplier data stewardship program.’ The iFood applications provides custom ways for each customer to streamline and manage their individual business.
