The Salinas Valley AgTech Summit Kicks Off ‘AgTech Season’ in Salinas

Last week, dozens of WGCIT startups participated in the Salinas Valley AgTech Summit at Hartnell College’s main campus. It was the fifth annual event, but the first time at this venue. Hartnell’s main campus allowed for all of the events’ activities to be spread out and held in their own space, for their own audience.

The Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology (WGCIT) has kicked this year off with a bang, already having hosted numerous events that have educated legislators, growers, technologists and other stakeholders about the importance of agricultural technology. The Center, which has been open for a little over two years, is taking a new solutions-orientated approach in 2018 where it is advancing innovation by bringing agricultural technologies to farmers, in their backyard.

‘Voices of the Valley’ Radio Show to Highlight AgTech Leaders & New Innovations

Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology is launching ‘Voices of the Valley,’ a new radio show on KRKC News where WGCIT Lead Dennis Donohue will be interviewing leaders in agtech and innovation. The first three-minute episode will air on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 7:50 a.m. on 1490 AM/104.9 FM KRKC Country.

The Center works with WG member growers, entrepreneurs, educators and technologists to provide new solutions for today and tomorrow’s challenges—all of whom will be interviewed on the show. Each episode will explore what’s challenging and new in agricultural innovation.
