Three WGCIT Residents Chosen as THRIVE Accelerator Finalists

Forty start-up companies pitched their heart out during the Seed Camp competition this week, and 12 have been chosen as the finalists for the THRIVE Accelerator program. Three residents in the Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology— GeoVisual Analytics, Inteligistics and Specright—are among the 12.
THRIVE Accelerator is a mentorship and investment program that offers guidance and other assistance to new agtech and foodtech businesses. The 12 companies will now have the opportunity to participate in an 8-week boot camp that culminates with a Demo Day in early June. The winner of Demo Day will be recognized and honored during the Forbes AgTech Summit in July.

AgTech collaboration was taken to new heights this St. Patrick’s Day, when Salinas, Calif. and Ireland virtually conversed about ways to advance high-tech solutions in the ag industry. Paul Bell, the mayor of Drogheda in Ireland, and Dennis Donahue, former mayor of Salinas, connected via Skype on the eve of St. Paddy’s Day about a common bond both cities share: Innovation Centers.

Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology brought a little extra flavor to lunch last Friday with its first ever Burritos and Brainstorming luncheon. The event featured five Taylor Farm team members who spoke with the WGCIT resident startup companies about a variety of topics relating to agriculture and technology, while enjoying burritos for lunch.
