Energy is costly

Let’s face it: energy costs aren’t the first thing a grower thinks about when running their farm. There are so many inputs to juggle in terms of operational costs: regulations and compliance, labor availability, equipment status, seed and soil composition, nitrogen application, irrigation schedules, and water availability, to name a few. Energy is usually an afterthought and often viewed as a fixed expense or just a “cost of doing business.”

Western Growers Leaders, Center Showcased during THRIVE AgTech Forum

The THRIVE AgTech Innovation Forum took place February 1, 2017, in Menlo Park, CA. SVG Partners said the goal of the event was “to advance pioneering agtech innovation and forge new partnerships across technology and agriculture.” The event featured agtech panel discussions, agtech startup lightening pitches and leadership networking opportunities.

The all-day forum hosted entrepreneurs, investors, farmers, scientists, and industry corporations. In fact, numerous Western Growers members and leaders were tapped to share expert insight on the future of agtech and agriculture as featured speakers during the event including:
