On Tuesday, Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology (WGCIT) Director Dennis Donohue and Concentric Power CEO Brian Curtis (a WGCIT resident) joined Congressman Jimmy Panetta for Microgrid California. The Microgrid California event offered a series of activities to demonstrate the importance of microgrids for providing reliable electricity, saving money and reducing emissions.

Donohue and Curtis participated in the Microgrids for Agriculture/Food Industry Panel, where energy and tech leaders offered examples of successful microgrids used in the food industry and shared insight on how to make it easier for agriculture to adopt them more widely. In addition to a series of other panels that covered everything from microgrids and government to microgrids for businesses, the event featured an interactive leadership session and keynote address from Congressman Panetta.

“We need solutions to remove the instability of large interconnected grids. That’s why we need microgrids,” said Congressman Panetta during his keynote address.
