'Innovating in Challenging Times' Webinar Series Concludes

The Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology (WGCIT) launched an Innovating in Challenging Times webinar series in April to demonstrate how technological development continues to advance during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. The weekly series featured entrepreneurs from different agtech startups who shared how the crisis has impacted their company, as well as the creative methods they are implementing to move their business forward. Innovating in Challenging Times broadcasted live every Thursday and was moderated by WGCIT Director Dennis Donohue.

All webinars were complimentary for Western Growers members, and recordings of each session are available to members on the WGCIT Vimeo webpage here. WG encourages members to check out the webinar recordings, as well as future sessions, and contact Emily Lyons if you would like to be connected with any of the agtech innovators.

WGCIT Sponsor, Trimble, participated in the webinar series twice; once to kick off the series and once to conclude. The first presentation educated the WG audience on Trimble's newest and most revolutionary spraying technologies: Weedseeker 2.0 and MagGrow. The WeedSeeker 2.0 system is Trimble's new advanced spot spraying technology that allows growers to save up to 85 percent on chemical costs. In addition, the technology is allowing growers to spend less time filling sprayers and more time actually spraying. Orchards across California are already experiencing the game-changing benefits of this system! Trimble also discussed the Natural Resources Conservation Service funding that is available for this system. MagGrow is a Trimble select spray system which creates a more optimized droplet profile, significantly reducing waste associated with conventional pesticide applications and helping to deliver vital crop protection products where they matter most. MagGrow is also a long-time resident of the Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology.

During the final webinar in the Innovating in Challenging Times series, Trimble’s Devon Liss highlighted the benefits of Trimble Ag Software. Along with demoing Farmer Core, Trimble’s new and innovative streamlining software, Liss shared how the company supports fleet management, coverage mapping and auto-syncing work orders. Watch this webinar to learn more about how Trimble Connected Farm increases operational efficiencies.
